What a great surprise!

I loved the app! I had such a nice trip. I love the Double Fantasy album. I believe that anyone who does will love it too.

Nice document

Well worth the 5 dollars. For fans only tought.

Playful insight into a genius

Lennons historic sailing trip that inspired his creative return in 1980 is made into an interactive app of the best type. The net proceeds going to charity; whats not to like.

Love.

Its John Lennon, people. Of course this app is amazing!

Cool

This is a really neat app now there just needs to be an update and maybe some footage of the trip if there is any and also some music videos. Then it would be a 5 star app. The price isnt bad considering its for a good cause. John would have liked the idea of this app.

Ive been waiting for this for so long!

This app documents a seminal moment in the creative life of John Lennon. The voyage to Bermuda rejuvenated the musical muse of Lennon and led to the songs that appeared on Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey. Id love to see an app that documents the recording of Double Fantasy with lots of the between-takes banter of John and the musicians and producer Jack Douglas. Thanks for making the Bermuda Tapes app happen.

Great app, great cause

Slow to load, but thats okay. I would have donated directly, but how nice to have even a small window into John and Yokos creative process.

Amazing! Thank you Yoko

For this piece of history.

Most Amazing App Ive Ever Seen!

This app is meant to recreate the experience of becoming immersed in a record album. It does so in a way that I never could have imagined. The creativity and thought that went into this is incredible and this app is hugely entertaining not only for the music and stories but for the way in which you become part of the story. As youre listening to John talk about sailing to Bermuda, you get to tilt your phone and watch the boat sail across the ocean. When it gets to the part about how they used the stars for guidance, the sky changes to night and you have a first person view from the front of the boat where you can look around and look up at the stars. That chapter ends and now youre at a Disco 40 in Hamilton, Bermuda listening to John talk about discovering The B-52s. This time, instead of tilting your phone, you scroll from left to right at the speed of your choice to tour the disco and continue the story. There are other chapters and ways in which this app uses the iPhone capabilities which are just incredible (even the recording feature is used in one chapter to make something interesting happen). The content is new, exciting, and presented in such an entertaining way that I must say this is the most amazing app I have ever seen. I feel like Ive been to Bermuda and was a part of that voyage more so than ever before and I have a greater appreciation for these songs.

Made with love

What a wonderful cause and a magnificent app. This is food for the soul!

A gift to Lennon fans everywhere

I thought I knew pretty much everything there was to know about John Lennon and his music. Apparently not! Along comes this new app which chronicles a stormy journey he undertook by boat to Bermuda a few months before he was murdered. The trip was significant in that it reignited his interest in music after years of dormancy. (The music that came out of that harrowing trip led to the album Double Fantasy.) I had no idea about this very significant episode in Johns life, and what a delight to learn about it in a totally immersive and engaging way. The app takes you along with John and his crew as they battle the seas and ultimately land in Bermuda. All along the way, you are guided by John himself, and to hear his voice as he narrates the tale sent chills down my spine and brought tears to my eyes. And we are treated to the raw demos he made during this time which went on to become the iconic tunes from his last album. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this really does bring the great John Lennon and his music back to life. A precious gift to Lennon fans with the proceeds going to a great cause.

True art

This app explores the full potential of the medium, combining text, music, interviews, animation, and visual art in an interactive way impossible in any other format. We miss you John: a great tribute.

Very cool!

Very cool app!

Awesome app!

This app is a must for all John Lennon fans. It chronicles the last summer of his life, in which the doors to his creativity were blown open with the great songs from Double Fantasy and Milk And Honey, many of which are sampled here. There are many recordings here, some of which are unreleased, and many other extras that will keep you interested for hours. I wont spoil it for you with all the details, but I will say that I think John would approve of its release. It is inexpensive and all the money goes to WhyHunger, so I think all Lennon fans who have a desire to feed the hungry here and abroad would be happy to purchase this. It make take awhile to download, it did for me, but once I got it, I was very pleased! Buy this app!

Excellent Interactive Music Experience

Beautifully rendered interactive experience.

A Five Star Ap

This is a really amazing ap for every John Lennon fan. The thing I enjoyed about this was the insight from John about how he came about writing each song. I never really knew those things, even though I am a HUGE John Lennon and Beatles fan!

Beautiful

App is modern, works well, hands on and a beautiful story, worth the money

I concur with the other positive reviews. Now lets see this applied to Sgt Pepper!

What a great app and a great cause. Now, lets hope this paves the way for apps for other great albums like Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road, White Album or Band on the Run! Perhaps even other artists? Funny how Peter Gabriel didnt think of this idea of an app first. He had great software where you could remix his music back in the 1990s. Anyway, this is a rare and last glimpse into Johns last creative output before his life was cut short. Truly amazing!

App as art

This app raises the bar so high, it’s going to cause serious problems for all other app makers. It’s a beautiful tribute to John Lennon that is smart, interesting and entertaining. Beyond that, it also manages to push the boundaries and defy expectations about what an app can deliver. Incredible!

Lennon is God !

And The Beatles is my religion.
