Pros and cons of John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes app for iPhone and iPad

John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes app good for

I loved the app! I had such a nice trip. I love the Double Fantasy album. I believe that anyone who does will love it too.
Lennons historic sailing trip that inspired his creative return in 1980 is made into an interactive app of the best type. The net proceeds going to charity; whats not to like.
This is a really neat app now there just needs to be an update and maybe some footage of the trip if there is any and also some music videos. Then it would be a 5 star app. The price isnt bad considering its for a good cause. John would have liked the idea of this app.

Some bad moments

This app documents a seminal moment in the creative life of John Lennon. The voyage to Bermuda rejuvenated the musical muse of Lennon and led to the songs that appeared on Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey. Id love to see an app that documents the recording of Double Fantasy with lots of the between-takes banter of John and the musicians and producer Jack Douglas. Thanks for making the Bermuda Tapes app happen.
Slow to load, but thats okay. I would have donated directly, but how nice to have even a small window into John and Yokos creative process.
This app is meant to recreate the experience of becoming immersed in a record album. It does so in a way that I never could have imagined. The creativity and thought that went into this is incredible and this app is hugely entertaining not only for the music and stories but for the way in which you become part of the story. As youre listening to John talk about sailing to Bermuda, you get to tilt your phone and watch the boat sail across the ocean. When it gets to the part about how they used the stars for guidance, the sky changes to night and you have a first person view from the front of the boat where you can look around and look up at the stars. That chapter ends and now youre at a Disco 40 in Hamilton, Bermuda listening to John talk about discovering The B-52s. This time, instead of tilting your phone, you scroll from left to right at the speed of your choice to tour the disco and continue the story. There are other chapters and ways in which this app uses the iPhone capabilities which are just incredible (even the recording feature is used in one chapter to make something interesting happen). The content is new, exciting, and presented in such an entertaining way that I must say this is the most amazing app I have ever seen. I feel like Ive been to Bermuda and was a part of that voyage more so than ever before and I have a greater appreciation for these songs.
What a wonderful cause and a magnificent app. This is food for the soul!
I thought I knew pretty much everything there was to know about John Lennon and his music. Apparently not! Along comes this new app which chronicles a stormy journey he undertook by boat to Bermuda a few months before he was murdered. The trip was significant in that it reignited his interest in music after years of dormancy. (The music that came out of that harrowing trip led to the album Double Fantasy.) I had no idea about this very significant episode in Johns life, and what a delight to learn about it in a totally immersive and engaging way. The app takes you along with John and his crew as they battle the seas and ultimately land in Bermuda. All along the way, you are guided by John himself, and to hear his voice as he narrates the tale sent chills down my spine and brought tears to my eyes. And we are treated to the raw demos he made during this time which went on to become the iconic tunes from his last album. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this really does bring the great John Lennon and his music back to life. A precious gift to Lennon fans with the proceeds going to a great cause.
This app explores the full potential of the medium, combining text, music, interviews, animation, and visual art in an interactive way impossible in any other format. We miss you John: a great tribute.
